Various activities to mark 80 year of Outline of Vietnamese Culture

The national workshop, due to take place on February 27, will bring together managers, scientists, and practitioners of culture and art who will examine the historical significance, great value, and influence of the Outline of Vietnamese Culture over the past 80 years.

Delegates will propose solutions to effectively promote the value of the document for the purpose of cultural and human development in order to meet the country’s requirements for sustainable development.

Both Party and State leaders, along with representatives of relevant ministries, agencies, and all 63 localities, will attend the workshop to be held both physically and virtually.

To celebrate 80 years of the Outline of Vietnamese Culture, a grand meeting and a special art programme will be held at the Hanoi Opera House on February 28 by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in collaboration with the Party’s Commission for Information and Education, Vietnam Television, and other relevant agencies.

A documentary focusing on the Outline of Vietnamese Culture will be broadcast on Vietnam Television channel 1 on February 27.

Furthermore, a film week will also take place across the country from February 25 to March 3, featuring movies such as Bình minh đỏ (Red Dawn) and Nhà tiên tri (Prophet).

Moreover, a photo exhibition will be held as part of the occasion, with approximately 80 photos to be selected for display which will provide insights into the significance and value of the Outline of Vietnamese Culture, and show the contributions to the cultural sector made by late President Ho Chi Minh and other generations of Party and State leaders.

The Outline of Vietnamese Culture drafted by Party General Secretary Truong Chinh was initially approved by the Standing Board of the Party Central Committee at a meeting in Hanoi in February 1943.

Over the past eight decades, the values of the Outline of Vietnamese Culture have remained fresh, thereby helping to lead the cause of building and developing an advanced Vietnamese culture imbued with a national identity, and to meet the country’s requirements for sustainable development in the process of international integration, said Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong at a press briefing in Hanoi on February 22.

According to the Deputy Minister, the Ministry has drafted and submitted an overall programme to the Party’s Secretariat for approval with a range of designated activities being put together in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the Outline.

Through these commemorative activities, the Party, army, and people, especially cultural activists, intellectuals, and artists, will have the chance to learn more about the historical significance, the great value, and the influence of the Outline of Vietnamese Culture, said Deputy Minister Dong. He added that the activities will also affirm the Party’s vision of the position, role, and importance of culture in the revolutionary cause of the nation.
