Vietnamese cuisine ranked 22nd out of 100 best international cuisines

The annual TasteAtlas rankings are based on a total of 395,205 dish ratings and 115,660 food product ratings, which were considered to determine the top culinary experiences worldwide.

Italy secured the top spot in the list, followed by Japan in second place and Greece in third. Two representatives from Southeast Asia made it to the top 20, with Indonesia ranking sixth and Thailand coming in at 17th.

Vietnam was ranked 22nd, placed behind Hungary at 21st and followed by Iran at 23rd.

When it comes to the 100 best dishes in the world, as announced by TasteAtlas, Vietnamese dishes were also celebrated internationally. Bánh Mì Kẹp Thịt (Vietnamese Baguette Sandwich with Meat) and Phở Bò (Beef Noodle Soup) were ranked 14th and 100th, respectively.

In terms of best food cities & regions, Hue City and Ho Chi Minh City secured the 28th and 73rd spots.

TasteAtlas readers recognized Phở Thìn Lò Đúc in Hanoi as one of the most iconic food places in the world, ranking it 90th. The restaurant was established in 1979.

TasteAtlas, founded in 2015, is an online guide for traditional food that provides authentic recipes, food critic reviews, and research articles about popular ingredients and dishes. Describing itself as “a world atlas of traditional dishes, local ingredients, and authentic restaurants,” it features an interactive global food map with dish icons displayed in their respective regions. The website boasts nearly 10,000 dishes, drinks, and ingredients, as well as 9,000 restaurants.

TasteAtlas also presents awards in various categories such as best traditional dish, best cuisine, best traditional food city, and more.

In the previous rankings released in December 2022, TasteAtlas ranked Vietnam 20th among the world’s 100 best cuisines.
